Maha Ashtami symbolises worship of divine energy says Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla • Chaitra Navaratri Maha Ashtami Phalahara celebrations held for the first time in Telangana under Lok Bhavan aegis Stating that Chaitra Navaratri Maha Ashtami represents the worship of divine energy, Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Thursday said the festival inspires people to overcome ignorance, ego, and negative tendencies through devotion. The Chaitra Navaratri Maha Ashtami Phalahara celebrations were organised for the first time in Telangana under the aegis of Lok Bhavan at Sanskriti Community Hall, where the event was held with religious fervour. The Governor, Shri Jhiv Pratap Shukla, along with the First Lady of the State Smt. Janaki Shukla, inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Shukla said he had been participating in such celebrations for the past 35 years and expressed happiness at organising the event after assuming office as the Governor of Telangana. He voiced hope that the tradition would continue in the State in the coming years. Highlighting the significance of the occasion, he said Maha Ashtami is a symbol of the worship of Goddess Durga, the embodiment of divine energy, and called upon devotees to strive for inner purification.

He observed that Phalahara Deeksha is not merely a dietary practice but a spiritual discipline aimed at purifying the mind, body, and soul, while fostering restraint, patience, and self-confidence.

 

The Governor appealed to the people to work towards strengthening peace and social harmony, and emphasised the importance of mutual respect and cooperation for the progress of the State.

 

He prayed that the blessings of Goddess Durga bring health, happiness, and prosperity to all.
